I love history, Cornwall and a good saga, so when I then see family trees at the start of a book, I get very excited- this novel had ticked lots of boxes before I'd read a word.
I wouldn't have picked it up on the strength of its cover, and the first few chapters feel very much that they are setting scene, time and establishing personalities but I think we're in for a big story and there is a long journey ahead.
