From the first page I am intrigued to find out what happened in the 'odyssey' that was seven days of revelations for Saffron. I also particularly like that this is written in the first person. We learn that Saffron's mum disappeared when she was just 7 years old. She went to get milk and never came back leaving behind Saffron and her two younger siblings; one aged 3 the other a small baby. A flashback then happens when Saffron is remembering a time when she and Tom (whom we also get to read a very short chapter about) were together and Saffron said to Tom her Mum had died.

I am therefore intrigued as to what Saffron has found in the suitcase in her attic (when no one else was at home) that has led her to run from the house, call her Dad with such anger and she describes as breaking her heart. It seems that although she had always been told not to go in the attic for her own safety there is actually more to this reason which the suitcase has unlocked. Tom finds Saffron slumped against a wall in a puddle and can sense something has happened to Saffron. I like his humour and he seems kind. Already I want to keep reading to learn more about not only Saffron but Tom too as Saffron says he never stays too long, not long enough to get close it feels to her. I really want to know what she has discovered that has turned her world upside down.
