I read Sunflowers in February by the same author which was released around this time last year. As her debut book I was impressed, and had high expectations for this one.

The colour of shadows is about a teenager who finds her self homeless trying to come to terms with the news of her mother that her father kept from her.

I appreciate the topics such as homelessness etc that this book tries to deals with and it was done with thought and care however the writing style which seemed it was aimed at younger audiences didn't help.

The main character is someone I couldn't connect with I grew to dislike her she's fiery, angry and careless though the gradual journey she goes through is does make her undergo some character development. It wasn't moving as I hoped.
