I wasn't expecting to enjoy The Colour of Shadows as much as I did but I really highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the Young Adult genre! However there are one or two things that bothered me a little but they are only minor criticisms. Firstly, I loved Saffron as a character but there were times where I didn't really believe her as a typical seventeen year old girl. She seemed overly innocent for her age and made some odd choices and silly mistakes that led me to raise some eyebrows. That being said, I loved how the author explored her relationship with Tom, which was incredibly sweet. I also really enjoyed how the book took place over a week with each day being detailed - it was very unique. In addition to this, I have to commend the author for their portrayal of homelessness, particularly among young people, which is very rarely represented in YA fiction. Overall, a very solid read and I highly recommend The Colour of Shadows.
