Having read and loved the author's first novel, Sunflowers in February, I was very much looking forward to reading her second offering. The colour of shadows.
Whilst this was a very easy read, I didn't really feel at any point that I particularly gelled with any of the characters.
I found the main character, Saffron, very spoilt and frustrating. I realise this was a plot device to transform her character into a more grounded, humble girl by the end of her experiences throughout the book, but she just seemed so one dimensional to me.
The main storyline hinges on Saffron finding out her mother is not dead, as she has been led to believe for many years. She runs away in an attempt to find her rather than staying to discuss it with her Dad and find out the truth. I just found it all a little unbelievable....
