Saffron is a spoiled brat. Her mother disappeared ten years ago and her father has met some one else . She hates her step mother and decides to pack some of her things and run away. But she hasn't thought that she has nowhere to go and ends up under a bridge with the other homeless of the area....not something she had planned. She makes a friend called Tom and discovers that her father has been keeping a huge secret from her and she needs to make a decision on how to pursue and find out more.
The author tells the story of the homeless in a way that makes you understand what they go through each day.
This book to me has some good points and some bad - the author drifts at times and takes away from the story. Descriptions could have been made clearly for instance we know Saffron comes from a rich background but nothing is made mention of Tom in that way. Also the talk of the homeless sometimes seems quite sympathetic and other times it seems quite harsh. This is a strange novel but what I am glad I read
