When I read the First Look for this a few months ago, I was intrigued and wanted to read more. Once I got round to reading it fully, I was at first unsure. However, as the characters and plot developed I was hooked. I was desperate to find out what had truly happened to the main character's mum.

When I got to the end, which wasn't what I expected (no spoilers here), I went to see my mum and gave her a hug. Whether you're lucky enough to still have your mum in your life or not, I'm sure this book will make you think about that one person who loves you unconditionally.

The subplot of homelessness was an interesting one - one which I haven't read much about in the past. It was raw and heartbreaking; it showed how close we all are to being in that situation ourselves.

I recommend this book. If you're unsure at first, persist. You won't be disappointed.
