The book if mainly from Saffy's point of view however for a chapter at a time it sometimes is from Tom. From what I have read I know that there is going to be a journey that Saffy has to go on. Her life hasn't always been easy, she finds herself in situations others would not. But when things get too tough Tom appear to wipe her tears until he has to leave again. They have a very special journey. From best friends to strangers to acquaintances. It is, however, very clear through out that their soft spot for each other has never and will never die. Even when they became teenagers and grew up, they were always there for each other when times became hard.
The language is very descriptive making it easy to picture the setting and find your imagination getting lost in the story. There's a lot of juxtaposing language to show the change that Tom brings and how he makes things better for her.
