I would rate this book as 3 and a half stars.

'The Colour of Shadows' tells the story of Saffron, a seventeen-year-old spoiled, rich girl who decides to run away from home after discovering that her father has been hiding a massive secret about her mother for the past ten years.

Displaying stubbornness and selfishness throughout the book, Saffron wasn't a particularly likeable character. In fact, I much preferred her childhood friend Tom, even though he was far too willing to drop everything at the drop of a hat for the sake of Saffron. However, spending several days and nights as a homeless person (due to Saffron's stubbornness to return home) soon makes Saffron realise that her life isn't that bad after all.

It was a nice enough read, but I wouldn't go shouting from the rooftops about this book.
