I didn't click with this author's previous release, and I hoped it might be a different case this time round. But sadly it was not to be. I just couldn't get into 'The Colour of Shadows', just as I couldn't get into 'Sunflowers in February'.

The covers are beautiful to be sure, which is what drew me to these novels, but the plots continue to fail to grab my attention. It's really sad/frustrating, as I would love to read and promote more UKYA works!

The idea behind this novel is a good one, though. Homelessness is a topic that should be covered, and the fact that this novel focused on a homeless teenage girl was even better still. I'm just sad it didn't grip me in the same way the synopsis did!
