Thought provoking
This is an easy to read book ostensibly about seventeen year old Saffron struggling to cope with a family betrayal however the primary theme is homelessness, a subject which is well explored throughout the story although it skirts on the edges of being a bit preachy at times. I’m not sure that Saffron’s experiences are overly realistic however given the timeframe the story is told over - one week - I can see why the author told both Saffron’s story and the various homeless people’s stories as she did. There’s a lot to find fault in with Saffron, she’s a very human character but likeable overall and it was good to hear the story through her perspective, I didn’t feel that Tom’s perspective added to the story however as a character he added a lot to the story. Overall this is a good thought provoking book that’s well worth a read
