This book is much deeper, and causes you to think much more than I would have expected based on the cover, and I loved it for it.
The book is written from the perspectives of the two main characters, Saffron and Tom, although considerably more from her side.
When at 17, Saffron discovers that the mother she thought had died hadn't, and that her father had lied to her for 10 years, she leaves home in search of answers. This takes her onto the streets, where she mixes with several homeless people and goes deeper into the reasons they are there.
At several points, the insights and details she notices seem at odds with her otherwise fairly typical 17 year old thoughts, but this made the book come alive and be something different.
I liked both the main characters, and the interplay between them was great.
A really good read.
