The Cornish Captive by Nicola Pryce is not a book I would usually pick up so when I recieved a copy to review I wasn't most excited if I'm honest but its always good to try something new! This book, was an enjoyable, palate cleansing easy reader and is the perfect holiday read or pre bed read and great for those who like historical fiction.

Set in the 1800s, this is the story of Madeleine Pelligrew. Madeleine is wrongfully and on false charges, shut in the madhouse prisons. She is released until strange circumstances, by a strange man, and thus starts Madeleine`s strange conquest to uncover the truth and events that happened many years back, and which led to her getting imprisoned.

It was a familiar trope that had me hooked, although was slow to start getting into it. Once I was over the hump, I flew through it! I love that it appealed to the teen in me, and grown up with the interesting adult content. It was a curious story which I wont spoil here.

It was easy to get into the minds of the characters and feel like you got to know them over the course of the story.
