This is the second book I have read in this series so far and I loved it! I think this may be my favourite historical fiction series and I definitely want to go back and read the books I have missed. As a Cornish girl I loved the sense of home that this book gave me. But I think the historical seaside town can be enjoyed by anyone! Pryce creates such vivid and endearing characters, I felt so connected to them and their stories. Although this book does work as a stand alone, I feel I’d understand more about some of the other characters if I had read some of the earlier books in the series first.
Regardless, I really enjoyed this novel and hope that Pryce continues to follow these characters by writing more books for this series! I often found myself sitting and picturing the old seaside town, almost as if it was one of my own memories. I found this book infiltrating my own life so much I almost couldn’t distinguish between what was real and what was fiction. At times I found the mystery and vast array of characters a little tricky to follow, but it kept me on my toes and I really enjoyed the pace of the novel.
