A captive historical story set in Cornwall in the 1800’s. It begins with a pursuit and an evil hunter of people - the story has really exciting characters to capture your interest. The protagonist is a captive in an asylum and you really do feel for her as it is so disturbing that she is being held prisoner and subjected to cruelty. Although this is fictional, knowing that those in power could really control others makes you feel dispirited and you want her to be rescued.
If you enjoy historical storytelling this is a good book to read. I liked the pace, characters and the story throughout. I didn’t like the cover as I thought it looked like a simplistic romantic novel, so I wouldn’t have picked it up. I’m glad I did read the first chapter as it changed my opinion of what it would be like and I was interested to read on and find out what would be the resolution.
