Living near and spending lots of my holidays in the past visiting my mother in law in Penzance I find I really do enjoy books that are set in Cornwall.
The time of this book is set in 1800 and it contains much more than the story as it has so much interesting information on the time and how life was lived then.
Compared with life today what a difference, I have learnt a great deal about attitudes and life which is what I really appreciate in a story as it really brings it to life for me.
Nicola Pryce's books also include The Cornish Dressmaker ....The Cornish Lady....and a Cornish Betrothal...all of which are so very interesting.
In this book Madeleine has a tentative friendship with Captain Pierre de la Croix who is a French prisoner who is on parole. This leads to much personal heart searching and having to make a decision on should she follow her heart or not.
