This book is set in Cornwall in 1800. It is the first book i have read by this author and maybe would have understood it a little better if i had read the previous story.
It is all about a women called Madeleine who has spent the past 14 years of her life locked up in a number of ‘madhouses’. She was believed insane after her husbands death for blaming someone of killing him. She was made to look mad a was locked up and hidden as she knew the truth of her husbands death.
She is rescued after 14 years by a man claiming to know her brother however she struggles to trust anyone after all she has been through. Madeleine is determined in to out the truth about what happened all those years ago and has a few shocks along the way. She does eventually find to truth and has a happy ending. I found i writing in this book quite hard to follow and also there where alot of people to remember which got confusing at times
