I found this book to be alright. The story took a long time to get going and it found it difficult to bond with the characters. Madeleine is quite a strong character, but I found the language used for her speech and thoughts stilted. This made it difficult to properly bond with Madeleine as a character.
Overall the plot was well thought out and there was a small plot twist at the end which I did not anticipate.
I love the cover of this book, it's really engaging and fits the plot and characters really well. You can really imagine Madeleine as the heroine pictured on the front.
The links to the previous books in the series are nicely done and give you a fun insight to how the characters have moved on with their own stories.
I think there are other historical romantic fiction books which are much stronger and I wouldn't immediately recommend this book to a friend.
