I enjoyed this book so much that I read it in two days-each time I picked up the story it was like seeing a different episode on TV.
Right from the start the narrative of the author sets the scene in your mind so much so that you can feel the despair,anguish,torment,highs and lows and love as does Madeleine in the story.
There is treachery,murder,kindness and love and at the heart of it all a need to right many wrongs done by a man against a lady and who believes he is above the law-much the same today!
As the story unfolds you are led first one way then another as Madeleine tries to uncover the reason behind her husband's murder with the knowledge she is a French lady in England whilst we are at war with France so she has to keep her real identity secret.
Who is the man who got her out of the "madhouse"-a friend and are the other people trying to help her friends OR enemies?
Look for the real twist at the end!!!
