This isn't my usual genre but I thought I would give it a try as I did find the first look compelling. The book starts with Madeline getting rescued from the mad house where she is being kept. She has been held captive for 14years. We gradually get to find out what her life was before her imprisonment and she turns out to be a very strong woman. She goes back to her previous home to look for clues about her husband's death and the reason she was sent away. I did get a bit lost at times figuring out who was who as there were a lot of similar names and quite a lot of characters to get to grips with, it would probably have been good to read others in the series first. I also found it took quite a bit of getting through and maybe moved a bit slowly at times but then everything happened quite quickly at the end to wrap it all up. Saying that I did enjoy it for a change and would read more by the same author.
