A cosy christmas read about new beginnings

It took me a while to get into this. I wasn't immediately gripped. But as I read more I understood the main characters and their lives. The author has written the opening of this book very well and I already feel for the main character, Clare. She has had a lot happen in a short space of time and I want to continue reading more to find out what happens to Clare. I can relate to Clare's grief for her father and I would like to read further about this. I would also love to see her relationship with her mother improve. This book seems to be about coping with upheaval and about new beginnings. A fitting theme to read around the festive period, when people are ready see in a new year. We are also introduced to Sam and I assume a romance will occur between these two characters. This book seems like it would be suitable as a nice easy and quiet read to over the Christmas period.
