If you don't love yourself, how can you possibly love anyone else?

I really like the first impression of this book. The first paragraph has a sombre vibe to it, at first I thought Clare's son had died until I read on. The author does a good job at portraying emotion, you can easily empathise with Clare as I'm sure many women have been/are in her shoes. She is a very sentimental person that has had marriage problems for a long time but swept the issue under the rug as opposed to talking about it. Clare has put other people first her whole life and now it's about putting herself first. I would love to read on and see how she gets on living with her mother.
