This was a really cosy, comforting read, the kind that makes you feel happy when you pick it up, able to escape the real world for a while whilst you read. Thanks to Reader's First for an advance copy.
Clare is recently divorced, and following the sale of her marital home moves back in with her mother in the village of Little Bramble. Her mother appears to be struggling following the death of her father, and the destruction of the village hall where her mum was a leading light in the drama dociety. Clare is soon joined by her son who leaves university following a heart break, who helps with her plans for a Christmas show to bring the village together again. Thrown into the mix is vet Sam, who after an embarrassing first encounter provides friendship and more.
All the relationships are really nicely written, and the pace of the story is good. There are no great surprises, but they are not needed. It's a lovely heartwarming book and I really enjoyed it.
