I'll start by saying this isn't the genre I would normally read, so this might effect my opinion. I found The Country Village Christmas Show to be a gentle, easy to read, festive tale of family life. The main character Claire has to move back to her childhood home after a divorce, and the book focuses on her trying to reconnect with her mother and herself as a woman. Her son also turns up, but although all the inclusivity boxes are ticked with him announcing his pansexuality, I didn't like his personality. I was also a bit confused, as there wasn't even a hint of a village show until we'll over halfway into the book. If you want to read about a country village Christmas show, then this really isn't the book for you, as it is almost a sideline plot point. However, if you're after a simple family tale with a hint of romance, all set in a wintery Christmas village, I'd recommend this book to you. Also, there's a gingerbread recipe at the back - the characters eat a lot of cake and drink A LOT of hot chocolate!
