I had high hopes for this book but overall it flopped. The characters are great to read about and I really enjoyed the family relationship between Clare, Elaine and Kyle. However that is the one of the only good things I have to say about this book.
It became so tedious to read the repetitive scenes that were written in the same awkward pacing and ended with a similar poetic line for each chapter break or end.
The romance was about as steamy as ice water and I wanted to rip my hair out reading their interactions that felt robotic and bland.
There was some lgbt+ representation with Kyle the son being pansexual and it was great to see a book not focus on the family taking this in a negative light but instead not reacting to it as though its normal which I loved to see in this story.
The atmosphere was non existant, if you're looking for a Christmas read I would suggest elsewhere!
