Gernally, books that are inspired by real events and real people are major a pull in for me. I don't believe I have ever read a book based around the history of the Quig Dynasty, or Chinese history for that matter.

This is a harrowing story set in a 1800s Chinese, starting in a brothel and the harsh realities that some young girls ended up taking / were forced into at that time. The reader follows on the main character's travels around Europe. This a great concept for a book and tells the story pretty well, with the use of flowery, lyrical writing as a way to immerse the reader in the world and story.

This has made me want to look into the history of China during the Quig Dynasty and what girls and women had to do when life became difficult for them.

Generally, not my kind of writing, but from the first impression, I would be willing to give this a go due to the storyline and being based on a true story / person.
