The world Holly Black has made is enthralling. Not only has she taken the Fae and other mythical creatures but she has created a whole new world and dynamic characters to boot.
We follow the story of Jude and her sisters, their being raised in a land completely foreign to them with no way to protect themselves against the creatures that live there.
I wasn't too sure if I was going to connect with this book - an assumption I based purely on the fact that it was completely mythical and I wasn't sure whether it would have any ties to the world we live in today. But Black gave us those ties. We see Jude and her sisters sometimes visiting the parallel human world which adds to the mystery of the world Jude lives in.
It sometimes makes me wonder whether there is a parallel universe to the one we live in now. One where these beings and the royal line Black has created might exist.
How wonderful would it be if there was.
