The Cruel Prince has a violent beginning and makes promises of cruelty and deception that it definitely follows through on. Jude's character is first shown to be deeply caring if also niave but her character's transformation throughout the progression of Black's story is truly remarkable. Inspired by a dark vengeance her character arc is beautiful and well justified. The story itself walks the line between the Faireland and the mortal world tonoerfectly reflect how enmeshed Jude has become with both realms. The story's multiple facets come together perfectly to create a climatic ending that is both completely unexpected but is at the same time the only ending you can picture. I have no doubt the second installation of the series will be just as diverting as the first!
