I initially really struggled to get into this book.
I must have picked it up and put it down at least three times.
At first I struggled to wrap my head around such a high fantasy world.
The world seemed a little too ‘fairy’ for me.
Thankfully I stuck with it as I ended up binge reading the entire series in a matter of days.
Jude has to be one of my favourite female characters that I have read in a long time.
She is uncomplicated, knows exactly what she wants and is unapologetically herself.
Cardan is more than a match for her, as he too will make no apologies for who he is and together I think they make an incredible team - when they’re not trying to kill one another.
Holly Black has a fantastic way of world building and I after my initial hesitation of reading these books, I am glad I stuck with them because I got to meet some wonderful, complex characters in a brilliant built world.
