Every single page in this book was incredible! I could not put it down!
The book followed the main character Jude. Jude was only seven when her parents got murdered by a fae general, so she left the human world to go and live with that same fae general, who then proceeded to raise her and her sister like his own children, despite them being completely human. If that alone doesn’t already make you want to read the book then I don’t know what will.
From the description you can guess character relationships will be a bit strained to say the least. But wow! They were so much more complex, strained and twisted than I could have imagined!
The characters themselves were so intense and complex; they did really horrible things, yet I still wanted to love them.
The word building was spectacular! Holly Black’s depection of the fae was so interesting and unlike anything I’d seen before.
The book is rich in politics and magic, both woven together in a way that leaves me wanting so, so much more.
I highly recommended this book to anyone looking for a nail biting fantasy.
