The cruel prince by Holly Black is a fast paced, dark book filled with danger mystery and betrayal. It is a heart-in-your-throat fantasy.
Holly Black effectively portrays the cruel world of the fae and sucks you right into Elfhame. The descriptions are vivid but not too heavy.
I immediately connected with the main character despite her being blood thirsty and ruthless, two things I am not! I fell in love with many of the characters.
When one character betrayed another I was so sucked into the book that I felt furious for their sake. When the main character, Jude, gets deeper into the world of the royal court of the faeries the book takes a more sinister turn.
The plot is thick with mystery and tension, it is so addictive that I finished it in only one day.
