I’m not going to lie, i feel slightly lied to by booktok. Whilst Cruel Prince was a decent book, booktok severely overhypes the romance aspect of it. The fact that everyone praises it mostly for the enemies to lovers romance made me believe that the book revolves around their relationship. In reality, Jude and Carden’s relationship is only a subplot and the most important part of the book is the court politics and Jude’s own journey and transformation.
Pros- The general concept was good and offered a good view of Faerieland vs the human world, and Jude herself was an extremely interesting and likeable main character.
Cons- The first half of the book was ridiculously slow and uninteresting in my eyes, but the plot begins to pick up at the second half. Most of the characters are absolutely awful and underdeveloped and the world building is quite lazy.
