I absolutely loved this book - the world created is intricate and beautiful and deliciously entertaining. I couldn't put it down as it was so fast-moving and yet full of descriptive details, a difficult combination to master and yet so skillfully done. The book revolves around a young, strong, and complex character and is set in a world rife with political intrigue and fabulous secondary characters.
Having read the rest of the trilogy I would say that this may be the first of the trilogy but the rest of the series holds up just as well so this is very much a worthy investment in many hours of fun reading. One begins to suspect that everyone is not quite as they seem, and those suspicions keep the plot all the more tantalizing as details begin to emerge and sometimes contradict each other at first. In any case, richly woven plots and absolutely stunning descriptions.
