Everything seems to be normal, normal family in a normal house. Then a man turns up and all of a sudden that whole world comes crashing down. The Cruel Prince is extremely gripping from the first page. There is a huge inciting incident right at the beginning where you get a real sense that the character's lives are about to be completely flipped, and so is your perception of what's going on and what's going to happen. The author does an amazing job of pulling you from the real world and plunging you into Faerieland.
Very easy to read and really interesting. I loved the way it was set out, it breaks up the story and ensures you won't get bored of reading it. I mean chapter one is a direct response to the prologue and is a sentence long!
