I can't even believe that I am writing this review!
I have never ever read a fantasy book before and I was very reluctant to do so but after seeing @jana.reads 's excitement with Sarah J Maas books, I thought I would give fantasy a try!
I have listened to The Cruel Prince as I wanted to feel like I was being told the story and the experience has been really good!
I loved the Epilogue. I was already hooked by page 5 and I thought it was a very good start!
I liked the story. It's obviously something I have never read before and I liked being introduced to this new world, to its rules and people and peculiarities.
I liked the main character, Jude. I liked how tough and strong and stubborn she is. I liked how sure and convince she is about what she wants and how much she fights to achieve it.
I don't even know how to rate this! Did I like the story? Yes, I quite enjoyed the book in general. Did I like the characters? Well, some of them more than others. Did I like the pace? Yes, I did. It kept me intrigued most of the time although I have to say that in a couple of occasions I found myself wandering around with my thoughts instead of being focused on the book.
I probably won't continue with the series. Or any other fantasy book for that matter. I liked this one and I wanted to give fantasy a try. However, I don't think it is my thing and I am going back straight away to my lovely fiction books!
I get now why this genre has so many loyal readers and I am very happy and proud that I gave it a shot! But, like I said, thrillers and mysteries is my thing!
