I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. I’d barely read the blurb and when I asked around, some people either hated it or absolutely adored it.
Personally I loved it so much. The juxtaposing characters of Cardan and Jude - how strong she is despite living in a world that belittled her existence. It was a very interesting read.
I absolutely despised Cardan at the beginning, he was awful and cruel. Yet his character was so far from being two-dimensional. He was built with so many layers upon layers of secrets and hardships that he’s gone through.
The storyline itself was very exciting to follow. There was so much going on at all times that I read it so fast, so desperate to know what happened next.
Overall an amazing read, even if you didn’t like this first book, I’d recommend you read the wicked king because it gets even better there!
