I have seen this book all over YouTube and instagram , with everyone saying how good it was. So I had to check it out when I saw this was available on audio on my library app.
This is also the first book that I have read by Holly Black.
This is about a girl called called Jude, it starts of with her being about 7 years old. She has a twin sister, Taryn and and older sister. A strange man comes to their house and he ends up killing their mum and dad and taking the girls to live with him in the faerie world. I was really shocked as this, and it really draw me into the book wanting to know more. This happens in the first few pages of the book so isn't really a spoiler.
Ten years later and Jude is 17 and had hated living in faerie land and hates all the faeries and wants to move back to the mortal world.
I can't really say to much more as it will be giving it away. But there was going to be a new high Lord and things don't go to plan.
I really enjoyed reading this and love the characters and how some of them can be quite complex. I had mixed feeling about Judes step dad Maddox, one minute I like him the next I hated him.
Really glad I picked this one up and can't wait to read the other two books in the series.
