This book, I must say, surprised me greatly. I didn't know that I would enjoy it when there was not a clear love interest from the beginning; I am a sucker for romance. I was pleased with the confusing, intriguing form of romance that is demonstrated between the main characters.
The lust-driven Cardan is a beautifully created character who forces the reader to indulge in his dark humour. Jude is a stubborn, driven, young girl who I personally relate to on a personal level; this may be due simply to her love for Cardan.
Holly Black expertly structured the story of this book and crafted some truly fascinating twists and turns that constantly leave me speechless and excited to continue reading. I recommend this book and everything Black has written.
