I really enjoyed this book, it was a great way to kick off the series. I'm usually not one for faerie books, in fact ! almost always can't even make it halfway through the book, so for this one to grip me enough that I was willing to commit to a series, I was impressed! The enemies trope gets me every time, but man was it done well here. Even though I know we should hate Carden at this point, you still couldn't help but hope that there was some juicy backstory ready to unearth!

The second half of the book is where it really gets interesting, and the character development we see already is really great so I was really interested to see where the author would take Jude's character from there. So many twists happen after that, and the fact that all this and all the world building was crammed into one book was insane, and made me really excited for the next one.
