First of all, I must say that I may be slightly biased in my review of this book, because I simply love the stories of the fae and so far this book does not disappoint.
The prologue is perfect in that it gives just enough of the children's back story to hook you in, without giving too much away causing you to lose interest.
Another aspect of this story I have enjoyed is that Holly Black has, rather than following the current trend of writing the fair folk as gloriously ethereal love interests, it would seem that she has taken inspiration from the old folk tales and has decided to paint the fae as being partial to wickedness and unnecessary cruelty.
As someone who has grown up surrounded by the myths and legends in Ireland, i simply cannot wait to resd more of this book next year!
