The jump into Cruel Prince is exciting depicting a family in distress and then adjusting to a new normal. The faerie world and mortal world collides in this book which is unusual for this kind of YA fantasy and I’m really excited about that.
Once we are plunged into Jude’s present, the difficulty of being a mortal in the faerie world becomes apparent. The band of similar aged young people were diverse and the hierarchy was apparent with Carden and his friends being frankly abhorrent in their behaviour. The life of the sibling and their step father was intriguing and I’m dying to see more of how that plays out, living with the killer of their parents.
The cover is appealing and perfect, with colours that are simple, yet stark.
