This was the first “fae” book I’ve ever read!
I was seeing this series EVERYWHERE for such a long time and in December I finally decided to pick the book up. As well as reading the book, I also listened to the audiobook. Holly Black’s writing style was kind of difficult to get used to, so I much preferred the audio (audio gets 5 stars, book gets 4) because it was a lot easier to focus through the audio, especially because the narrator was brilliant.
My favourite aspect of this book is how the fae are depicted. In faeries are often evil tricksters and Holly Black really plays on that and uses it for her twists in a great way.
I also love her badass female characters. Jude is a great character. I loved watching her grow and strengthen.
I’d recommend this book! If you don’t enjoy the book I’d also recommend giving the audio a go instead!
