This was excellent. It far surpassed my expectations. I wanted twisted faeries and I got them in spades.
My favourite thing about this book was the world building. It was exquisite. I loved the mix of real world and faerie. It was as strange and wonderful as you'd expect, and filled with the creepiest of faerie races.
Jude is a fantastic character, fierce and flawed. It is difficult to get behind her actions and motivations, but this makes the story all the more powerful and compelling. Once I got properly started, I couldn't stop reading.
This was my first book from Holly Black and I will absolutely read more.
