I couldn't put the book down once I started reading it! There are so many twists and turns, and it's all really dramatic and beautiful. A daring and romantic storey between Jude Duarte, a fearless leader, and the tyrannical Prince Cardan. Cardan and Jude's love tale is one of my favourites! Some people didn't get it or didn't like it because it wasn't "traditional." Cardan is harsh to Jude, and they appear to despise each other. They do, however, have a strong desire for each other. They're so out of the ordinary!!! It kept you on the edge of your seat since you never knew what they were going to do!!! However i must mention i would have thrown this book down within the first six pages if I were a regular reader searching for a decent fantasy book to read in my spare time. BUT, at the end, Holly Black tied everything together masterfully, leaving me dumbfounded and wanting more. I admired how she portrayed Jude as so... human. There were issues with her and Cardan's relationship because it wasn't forced
