This book was the first book I had read in years after a major slump. It also gave me the motivation to continue reading, and I think sparked my love for fantasy books.
It follows Jude as she navigates her place in the fae world after her parents are killed and she's taken there. She thinks she knows her place and the rules, but she's tired of what that means and wants more for herself.
It was fast paced and a quick read, even more so on reread. I think the characters are relatable, realistic, and ironically, human.
I think there are better fantasy books out there, but for someone just getting into the genre this was the perfect book. The angst, worldbuilding and storylines were all interesting in their own right, and left the reader wanting more.
There's a reason as to why it's insanely popular in the bookish community, and I think its something you just have to read for yourself
