I had this book sitting on my shelf for a while and when I first picked it up, I had no idea how much I’d fall in love with this series. Holly has a way of building her fantasy worlds in the most beautiful way possible, and her characters even moreso. You become so invested in Jude, who is one of my utmost favourite book characters (which definitely says something). She’s absolutely badass, morally nebulous, and just... you can’t help but cheer for her. And I love Cardan too, oh so much. I don’t know what else to say except read this book!!! The Folk of the Air series is truly a gift to this world, and I’m definitely going to read Black’s other novels if they’re anywhere near half as good as The Cruel Prince.
