This book was a great intro to the Faerie world. I loved the morally gray characters! While many of the things they did were truly horrifying, it was nice to see some dark characters. While their actions were not justifiable, it was understandable. It just goes to show how not every character has to be "good" or "perfect" in a book.

I love Jude and her struggle of wanting to fit into the faerie world but not being able to because she will always be different, and how she wouldn't really fit into the mortal world either since she didn't grow up there. It is very reminiscent of the immigrant experience and detachment from their own culture people often deal with. It will be interesting to see how it works for Oak as he is growing up in the opposite situation. While Jude is growing up powerless, by the end Oak is growing up with an edge.
