I loved it

When I started this book, I was expecting to be underwhelmed. Everyone raved about it, saying it brought the enemies to lovers trope to a whole new level, and I just rolled my eyes.

We’ve seen this a hundred times in the YA Fantasy community and have almost always been let down. However, the opening intrigued me. A mortal in the land of fae? Right up my street of reading. A dark haired enemy who is such a bully he kicks dirt into your food? A morally grey love interest if I’ve ever seen one.

As the plot thickened, I just couldn’t get enough. Truly, I tried to stop devouring the pages like Jude does with faerie food, but I couldn’t stop myself. Truly got me back into YA fantasy that I used to love, and the narrative is beautifully written.

Character development, twists, heartache and most importantly…DAGGERS AND BALLROOMS! Who doesn’t love a good enemies to lovers without a badass female protagonist facing off her enemy/love interest in a ballroom via a dance?

It’s safe to say I consumed the rest of the series with much happiness and intrigue, and I recommend you do the same.
