The world-building was magnificent. I never once didn't understand what the rules were of the faerie. it never felt like a chore to read and understand the world around Jude. Although, I admit it took me a really long time to finally want to sit down and read the first novel, seeing as how I didn't know what to expect. I am a picky reader and genuinely thought I wasn't going to enjoy this book but kept with it because I had heard wonderous things.
All I can say is, I am not disappointed I stuck around. The novel had the perfect blend of romance and danger. I always wanted to turn the page whether it was because of a love interest or because of the challenges Jude was facing. The romance was the perfect enemies to lovers and I adored the novel so much. I read the last two novels in four days and I wish I would have savoured this delightful read.
The Cruel Prince is one of the most prized novels on my Fantasy shelf at the moment. I loved that Jude was murderous and sneaky. I loved her character. She was a total baddie and I respect that more than you know. I loved seeing her lead and make her own decisions. She was a great female lead that wasn't completely tainted by the hot guy on her arm. Which was very refreshing.
I loved Cardan. I loved him since the beginning. He was sassy and drunk and totally into a woman who could murder him. Which is just my type. I loved him so much more than I liked to admit. I can't help but fall for the "Villain".
I hated Taryn for a moment but I couldn't help but love her like she was a sister of my own. Her and Jude's bond was truly one of sisters. Messy but full of love and I stand by that.
