The book had an interesting premise and was a quick read.

The protagonist, Jude, is dynamic and strong. Her thought process is fascinating, as is her struggle through Faerie. Most of the characters are equally fleshed out and realistic, such as her sisters, Tamryn and Vi, and the other members of the Fair Folk, such as Locke. Their relationships, especially that between Jude and her family was interesting to watch play out.

The main plot of the book- Jude's grab at power and desperation to survive was well written and consistent, making for a good read.

However, I disliked the romantic aspect of the book as I did not really like the love interest, Cardan. This was a small aspect of the over all story, however, so it was okay.

Black's writing style was slightly jarring at first but accessible and makes for an east read once you get used to it.
